Why It Matters
Our Deeper Look Into This Week’s Topics
Will Siri and Alexa Regain Their AI Thrones?
We chatted about whether Siri and/or Alexa can mount a comeback and once reclaim the title of ‘Most Helpful AI Assistant”.
We’re hearing rumors about possible announcements being made at WWDC 2024, Apple’s Developer’s Conference. If some of the rumors are true, Siri could see significant improvements. We should know more tomorrow!
Amazon, on the other hand, is reportedly planning an enhanced and more capable version of Alexa for a fee.
WHY IT MATTERS
Enhanced Productivity with Siri: Upgrades to Siri could lead to better integration across Apple’s ecosystem, allowing for more seamless communication between devices, thus boosting efficiency and streamlining workflows.
Advanced Automation Tools: Siri’s improvements might offer smarter automation capabilities, enabling businesses to automate repetitive tasks more effectively, saving time and reducing manual effort.
New Features in Alexa: Amazon's potential paid Alexa service could introduce advanced features tailored for both home and office use, enhancing the assistant’s ability to perform complex tasks, which can translate to better task management and coordination.
Scalable Solutions: For enterprises, the new capabilities could offer scalable solutions that integrate with existing IT infrastructure, helping to support growing business needs and enhance digital transformation strategies.
Is the Energy Cost of AI Too High?
The DAS crew talked about AI's massive energy footprint on Tuesday’s show.
While AI is revolutionizing industries, it comes at a steep cost. A single ChatGPT query consumes 10x more energy than a typical Google search!
With AI usage exploding, data centers could devour 20% of total U.S. electricity by 2030. Yikes!
WHY IT MATTERS
Cost Implications: The significant energy consumption of AI can lead to higher operational costs for businesses using AI technologies. Understanding this helps companies budget effectively and consider the financial impact of extensive AI deployment.
Innovation Opportunities: The challenge of AI’s energy footprint can drive innovation. Companies that invest in developing or adopting more energy-efficient AI models can gain a competitive edge by lowering energy costs and enhancing sustainability.
Regulatory Compliance: As energy consumption becomes a larger concern, businesses might face increasing regulations on energy usage and emissions. Staying informed on AI's energy impact can help companies prepare for and comply with potential future regulations.
Long-Term Viability: Balancing AI’s benefits with its energy demands is crucial for long-term viability. Companies that proactively address this issue can ensure sustainable growth and continued innovation without being hindered by escalating energy costs or environmental concerns.

What We Are Chatting About This Week In Slack
GPT-6 and OpenAI’s New Initiatives:
Karl shared that OpenAI is working on GPT-6 or even GPT-7, alongside forming a Safety and Security Committee. This committee aims to oversee the ethical and secure development of AI models, ensuring they align with safety standards and regulations. Additionally, there were discussions about OpenAI’s recent collaboration with Apple to integrate advanced AI features into Apple's products, highlighting the strategic partnerships and financial impact of such deals.
HeyGen Test:
Eran was excited about a new HeyGen test option that allows users to type scripts for avatars, which then speak the text naturally while moving around with hand movements and walking. This development is seen as a positive step forward for the platform when it becomes available for general use.
GoogleLM Notebook
Brian was talking about using GoogleLM Notebook to help us ask questions against all 200+ episodes of The Daily AI Show. With nearly 10,000 minutes of AI discussion, having a tool that becomes an expert on all shows is a game changer.
“If you want to do a job that's kinda like a hobby, you can do a job. But otherwise, AI and the robots will provide any goods and services that you want. We will need Universal high income, but would be no shortage of goods or services.”

Did You Know?
Andy mentioned Nvidia on Wednesday’s show and was telling us how the “chip maker” is so much more than that. He’s right. These are the AI Solutions Nvidia is currently working on:
Generative AI
Data Analytics
Inference
Speech AI
Vision AI
Cybersecurity
No wonder their stock price has grown from $377 one year ago to $1197 as of Friday’s close.
